Author and journalist Bård Wormdal (66) has been interested in intelligence, Arctic and warfare for over 20 years. He produced the NRK Brennpunkt documentary The Pentagon’s Eye (2005) and wrote the books The Satellite War (Pax 2011), Stalking The Bear (Pax 2016), and The Spy War (Aschehoug 2023).
The Spy War has been purchased for all Norwegian libraries and has been printed in three editions.
The latest release, The Spy War, has been discussed several times in the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget), including as an important basis for a proposal to review the framework for the Intelligence Service.
Bård Wormdal has given hundreds of lectures. Abroad, Wormdal has lectured in the United States, Russia, France, and India. In connection with the launch of his latest release, The Spy War, the author held over 50 lectures and book events across Norway in the span of a year.
Wormdal worked at NRK from 1988 to 2023 and has lived in Vadsø at the border to Russia since 1989. He was educated at the Norwegian School of Journalism and also has experience as a journalist for Dagbladet and VG.
Bård Wormdal has received several awards, including the Norwegian Press Association’s Transparency Award for 2023.
